Job Description

Reporting to the Director, HR & Payroll Center, Administration, North (HRPCN,) the incumbent is responsible for providing services on employee and labor relations issues affecting Hospitality employees under Housing and Hospitality Services. Advise managers and supervisors on the scope, meaning, intent and application of personnel policies and collective bargaining agreements in relation to issues involving corrective action or discipline. Conduct internal investigations and coordinate with the appropriate campus office(s), e.g. Campus Human Resources Employee & Labor Relations for follow up and resolution. Responsible for the fingerprint program for the three areas; Reviews background check results for potential new hires and approve applicant hire/promotion action after careful analysis of potential liability. Represent the department during meetings coordinated by CHR Employee and Labor Relations with local Union leaders, during grievances, and coordinate, research and/or prepare the department’s response to Union requests for information; Review Post-Audit entries for compliance with University policies and Union Agreements.

This position also develops and implements multi property-wide strategies that will maximize recruiting, hiring and on-boarding efforts; including retention and recognition programs. Reviews time and attendance data to ensure accuracy prior to payroll deadlines. Monitors and tracks personnel and payroll data to provide relevant management information and prepares reports for management’s review. The Human Resources Manager works in conjunction with the HRPCN Administration to provide client services on job classification and compensation issues to ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Performs comparative analysis of departmental/organizational staffing patterns based on current and projected growth. Ensures wage compliance with union agreements; verify eligibility for merit increases and Staff Awards.”
