This critical role requires a highly motivated self-starter, who will manage technical aspects of audio-visual live events and meetings, and lead the AV technical team for UCLA Housing & Hospitality. This Team serves a variety of internal and external clients at the UCLA Meyer & Renee Luskin Conference Center and the UCLA Conferences spaces on the UCLA Campus in the Westwood area of Los Angeles, California. Events are fully onsite, hybrid, and fully virtual.
Responsible for overall AV Technical operations management, managing and scheduling the technical AV team, revenue and expense management and profitability while ensuring the utmost in client and hotel partner satisfaction.
Applies hands-on audio-visual technical and leadership experience to ensuring the maximum in client service, operational efficiency, employee development, and profitability levels.
This role is technical manager for meetings and events AV technical planning, set up, operation and strike activities in connection with live events and meetings. This position requires expertise in audio, video, and lighting, technical team leadership, and well-developed organization and time management skills.
Responsible for developing and keeping current the technical and reference materials for AV meeting room capabilities, AV equipment inventory tracking/use/maintenance schedules, and preparing recommendations for life cycle upgrades and new equipment.
This position is responsible for managing interactions with the UCLA Hospitality sales and event managers, by providing AV proposals and supporting quotes, securing external AV vendors as needed, and collaborating on AV event orders. Will also communicate and collaborate with external client contacts, vendor contacts, Residential Life AV team, and interactions with the UCLA HH IT team.
This position will maintain constant and accurate communication with client, sales teams, and event managers, to ensure proper set up and functionality of all equipment, offer technical assistance and provide creative vision for client’s projects.
This critical role requires client focus, be able to work well under deadlines and high pressure and have excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
