Job Description

Reporting to the University Apartments (UA) Sr. Budget Analyst, provides budget and accounting support to University Apartments, including UCHS, Medical Center properties, and UCLA Corporate Finance. The UA Budget Specialist’s primary daily and monthly responsibilities include assisting in the production of budgets, financial statements, variance reports and other tasks considered vital to UA’s annual operating budget of approximately $46.7M in revenue and $20.1M in expenses; UCHS operating budget of $27.1M in revenue and $9.1M in expenses, $9M in Capital Improvement 2016/17, $162k for UCLA Medical Apartments, and 10-year debt service. Incumbent is responsible for monthly and annual financial production of reports and supportive analysis working with the UA Sr. Budget Analyst and the UA Director in long-range planning for revenues, expenses, major maintenance, and staff salaries and benefits. This position is responsible for completing special projects as assigned.

The UA Budget Specialist utilizes established procedures, standards, and formats as determined by the Housing & Hospitality Services (H&HS) Director of Budget & Financial Planning and assists the UA Sr. Budget Analyst in producing financial statements and perform various accounting and data entry activities for operational projections, compiling and reporting research data, providing supporting data in organizational planning efforts, reporting and maintaining ongoing rent rate analyses and comparisons for 24 properties, and other projects as assigned. Work collaboratively with UA and UCHS managers, UCLA Corporate Accounting and Purchasing office, and other UCLA departments to stay abreast of current UCLA financial policy and procedures.
