Director of Physical Plant Management

Job Description

The Director of UCLA Housing & Hospitality Services, Physical Plant Management position reports to the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Housing & Hospitality Services and is organized around two major service units including: Physical Plant Management and Building Maintenance Operations. Each of these operating units provides a wide array of services to the UCLA residential communities including: Project Services, HVAC/Mechanical Services, Craft Services, Grounds/Landscape, Custodial Services, Paint, Food Service Equipment repair and General Building Maintenance. The Director is responsible for both routine maintenance as well as long-term major maintenance to achieve optimal physical condition for approximately 120 stand-alone structures and landscape incorporating over 7 million gross square feet. Areas of responsibility encompass: On Campus Housing Residential communities, Off Campus Housing University Apartment Communities, the UCLA Guest House, the UCLA Lake Arrowhead Conference Center and Bruin Woods Family Resort, and the UCLA Meyer and Renee Luskin Conference Center. The position has direct responsibility for the administration of an approximate $46 million annual operating budget and $30 million in major maintenance projects. The position oversees approximately 255 employees including 6 managerial direct reports. The Director of Housing & Hospitality Physical Plant Management provides year round operational and financial direction to the management associated with maintaining and enhancing room and board accommodations to approximately 12,000 single undergraduates residing on the campus, and 4,000 graduate student families, single graduates, upper division undergraduates, faculty and postdoctoral scholars living in the off campus apartments.
