Front Desk Agent

Job Description

Guest House Front Desk Agents operate a 24-hour service desk for the property. Incumbent is the first point of contact for guests, courteously and professionally providing a variety of customer service functions. Duties include guest check-in and check-out, posting payments, inputting reservations, arranging transportation, etc.. Front Desk Agents work in conjunction with the housekeeping staff to ensure room readiness. Incumbent assists with parking assignments, including off-site parking passes. Maintain a cash drawer with accuracy, following established UCLA and UC cash handling procedures.

Must be available to work varying schedules; including evenings, weekends, holidays and over time in order to reflect the business needs of the department.

Job Qualifications

Skill in operating a property management system.
Required

Proficient computer skills, i.e. use of Microsoft Office Suite, the internet, etc.
Required

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with guests and colleagues.
Required

Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively and tactfully with diverse department and University personnel at various levels and with the public, including students, in all matters pertaining to the operation of the unit.

Ability to set goals and priorities which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities when faced with fluctuating workloads, pressure of deadlines and competing requirements.

Skill in speaking clearly, using appropriate vocabulary and grammatically correct English to convey information to persons of various organizational, cultural and educational backgrounds.

Ability to operate standard office equipment, i.e. copiers, scanners, fax machines, etc..

Skill in detailed and accurate record keeping.

Knowledge of basic and standard cash handling and accounting procedures.

Skill in accurately completing monetary transactions.

Ability to operate hotel locking system.

Ability to exercise proper judgment when performing all job duties and interacting with guests.

Ability to work nights, weekends and occasional holidays.

Physical ability to stand continuously for up to 8 hours.

Knowledge of general information related to the University and surrounding community.
