Job Description

Under the direction of the Guest Rooms Supervisor, provide housekeeping services for approximately 30,000 guests during the conference season and 4,000 guests during our BRUIN WOODS season. Duties include operating a variety of cleaning equipment, maintaining guest rooms and performing daily housekeeping services. Serves as a back-up for occasional graveyard shifts as the night lodge senior custodian. Tasks must be performed in accordance with Department’s expectations for quality customer service.

Job Qualifications

Ability to communicate in English sufficiently and to understand simple work instructions and to impart information.
Required

Ability to write basic English words and phrases in order to complete forms regarding work to be done. Ability to read labels on cleaning solutions, written directions and work schedules.
Required

Ability to perform various custodial duties that involve walking, standing, climbing stairs and ladders, stooping and crouching.
Required

Ability to interact politely and courteously with University staff, guests and management.
Required

Working knowledge of fundamental janitorial and custodial procedures.
Preferred

Ability to clean and prepare guest rooms for incoming guests. Ability to recognize when a guestroom has been adequately prepared for an incoming guest.
Required

Skill in operating a variety of industrial and/or janitorial equipment including scrubbers, polishers and vacuum cleaners.
Preferred

Ability to properly use, control and inventory equipment and supplies.
Required

Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds (supplies, equipment, linens, etc).
Required

Ability to work independently or with others as directed or assigned.
Required

Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays, includes graveyard shift.
Required

Ability to perform effectively under conditions of fluctuating workload and under adverse weather conditions.
Required

Maintain a valid California driver’s license in order to drive University vehicles including trucks and electric carts in the course of performing job duties.
