Job Description

Under the direction of the Executive Housekeeper, Assistant Executive Housekeeper and Housekeeping Supervisor(s), the House Person will provide various housekeeping support services for the Luskin Conference Center (LCC). Responsible for the overall cleanliness of assigned floors, providing assistance to Guest Room Attendants (GRA’s), Linen Room Attendants and Housekeeping Supervisors. Accountable for the cleanliness of guest floor corridors, foyers, stairwells and public vending areas. Execute the delivery and pickup of guest-requested items to and from guest rooms, maintain Guest Room Attendant (GRA) carts and manage constant supply of clean linens for the hotel; ensuring closets are fully stocked and remove trash and dirty linens. Duties include, but are not limited to, the cleaning and care of floors (including carpets and tile), high dusting, edging, scrubbing, cleaning of hotel desks and other duties as assigned.

Incumbent operates a variety of equipment to clean and maintain guest rooms, public areas, restrooms and offices. Tasks are expected to be performed in accordance with LCC’s expectations for quality customer guest service.

Job Qualifications

Ability to communicate sufficiently in English in order to understand simple work instructions and to impart information.

Ability to write basic English words and phrases in order to complete task-related forms.
Required

Ability to read labels on cleaning solutions, written directions and work schedules.
Required

Ability to interact politely and courteously with University staff, faculty and guests.
Required

Working knowledge of fundamental custodial procedures.
Required

Ability to clean and prepare guest rooms to established LCC standards for incoming guests.
Required

Ability to recognize when a guestroom has been adequately prepared for an incoming guest.
Can be trained

Ability to recognize when public areas are neat and clean to established standards.
Can be trained

Skill in operating a variety of industrial and/or janitorial equipment including buffers, waxers, scrubbers, polishers and vacuum cleaners.
Required

Ability to properly use and monitor supply of equipment and supplies.

Working knowledge of carpet and floor care techniques.
Can be trained

Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Required

Ability to work independently or with others as directed or assigned.
Required

Ability to work overtime, holidays, evenings or weekends as assigned in order to meet operational needs.

Ability to perform various custodial duties that involve walking, standing, climbing stairs and ladders, stooping and crouching.

Ability to maintain proper inventory of linens, cleaning supplies, amenities and other items.
