Housing Services Representative
Job Description
Under the general direction of the Collection Manager, the Housing Services Representative is responsible for providing a high level of customer service for internal and external customers via telephone, email and in person. Assist with collection efforts for all Housing and Hospitality Services’ receivable accounts. This includes 16,000 accounts annually for University owned housing facilities. Audit accounts to ensure accuracy, does billing in StarRez housing database, prepare correspondence to customers regarding account status, and maintain the files of record for all customers. Assist and counsel customers that have financial difficulties using financial budget worksheets, and arranging alternate payment arrangements as appropriate. Adhere to established department and University guidelines as they apply collection efforts.
The target salary range for this position is between the posted minimum and $27.95 hourly.

Math Skills sufficient to perform financial calculations in order to correctly perform rental prorations. (Required)

Experience and skill in auditing calculations and documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness of information. (Required)

Skill in analyzing information, problems and situations in order to come up with appropriate solutions using established policies and procedures. (Required)

Proficient experience in Microsoft Suite products to prepare business correspondence, reports, and spreadsheets. (Required)

Ability to type with speed and accuracy. (Required)

Skill in operating a 10-Key adding machine by touch with speed and accuracy. (Required)

Skill in working as a team member, collaborating with colleagues to accomplish the specific and overall goals of the division. (Required)

Demonstrated collections, accounts receivable experience. (Preferred)

Working knowledge of StarRez housing database. (Preferred)

Working knowledge of the University Online Purchasing/Accounts Payable BruinBuy system. (Preferred)

Knowledge of general Business and Administrative Services’ policies and procedures. (Preferred)

Experience and skill in financial ledger reconciliation. (Preferred)

Ability to train coworkers on procedures and processes. (Preferred)
