Service Engineer
Job Description
Under the direction of the HVAC Shop Manager, service, maintain, repair and /or install DDC controls, and other specialized HVAC equipment to achieve maximum performance and efficiency of operation on a daily basis. Responsible for programming, diagnosing, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, adjusting, maintaining, and expansion of Building Automation Systems including the network and controllers. Incumbent should have a working knowledge to test, adjust, calibrate and commission major and auxiliary equipment to include chillers, domestic and hydronic hot water boilers, cooling towers, expansion valves, motors, fans, pumps, compressors and other specialized HVAC equipment. Prepare accurate written reports and maintenance records. Prepare estimates and maintain records. Interact with staff, management, and the campus community in an effective and diplomatic manner. Perform duties utilizing appropriate safety practices. Other duties as assigned.

Skill in reading and interpreting electrical, plumbing, mechanical and architectural drawings and construction specifications.

Ability to install, maintain and modify; Modular Building Controllers, Expansion Module Controllers, Stand alone control units (SCU), Modular Equipment controllers, Terminal equipment controllers including VFD drives, Constant volume controllers, Heat pump controllers, Static pressurization controllers, Differential pressure controllers, Point expansion Modules and other Field Panels and Floor Level Network Devices.

Ability to install, maintain and modify Carrier CCN Web controls and interfaces, including but not limited to Configuration, Bus Scan, Comfort controllers, Intergrater controllers, Zone controllers, Bypass controllers, VVT monitors, Temp system monitors, Zone damper controls, Communication interface, Device address, Bypass damper duct temperature sensor, CCN Diagnostic Codes, Sensor calibration and V V T relay packs.

Working knowledge of function, operation and repair of various HVAC, building automation controls and their related devices, equipment and utility distribution systems including but not limited to Trane Tracer Summit, Siemens Apogee, Metasys, Tricon and Carrier CCN Web systems.

Skill in analyzing information with respect to the efficient and economical operation of HVAC systems thru the manipulation of the building automation controls system, including point creation or modification, programming, scheduling, and trended point reports and make recommendations for efficient and cost effective control.

Demonstrated ability to import and export graphics to Insight database, animations within graphics, Bitmap images, Object properties, Special effects, Use of Dimensions, Color palette, Lines, Fills and Patterns, Text, Drawing objects, Setting options and other Micrografx Designer 9.0 tools.

Demonstrated ability to write PPCL programs including the use of commands e.g., EMAUTO, EMFAST, EMOFF, EMON, EMSET, EMSLOW, ENABLE, ENALM, ENCOV, FAST, GOSUB, GOTO, HLIMIT, HOLIDA, IF/THEN/ELSE, RELEAS, RETURN, SAMPLE, SET, SLOW, SSTO, SSTOCO, STATE, TABLE, TIMAVG, TOD, TODMOD, TODSET, WAIT, LT, EQ, NE, AND, $LOC, CRTIME, SECNDS, @EMER, @NONE, @OPER, @NONE, EMSET, EMON, GOTO, OR, LOOP, COM and other Syntax.

Ability to use trade related hand and power tools including test equipment and a laptop computer to interface with individual components with appropriate software.

Working knowledge of and skill in plumbing, electrical, heating and ventilation, air conditioning equipment and repairs.

Skill in basic drafting and design technique methods and procedures used in the areas of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing trade.

Ability to stand, climb, stoop, push, pull, and crouch for extended periods of time, as required to complete job assignments.

Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction and communicate effectively thru written reports and oral presentations.

Ability to lift items weighing up to fifty pounds from floor to waist high and rotate upper torso. Ability to lift material and parts, up to fifty pounds from shoulder to above head while standing on a ladder.

Ability to drive a pick-up truck and/or van.
Required
Must possess a Universal Certificate from EPA for handling and purchasing CFS’s and HFC’s.

Capable of distinguishing different colors.
