Vending Machine Technician

Job Description

Under the direction of the Manager of Vending Services and the Lead Facilities Mechanic, the incumbent is responsible for installing equipment, ordering parts and the efficient operation and maintenance of all vending equipment. The incumbent is responsible for preventative maintenance of vending machines to keep the equipment functioning properly. Drive University vehicles, including trucks and electric carts, to worksites located across campus.

Job Qualifications

Skill in trouble shooting and repairing icemakers and refrigeration units on food, beverage and ice cream machines.
Required

Skill in repairing, maintaining and installing electrical systems and equipment such as motors, transformers, wiring, switches and alarm systems.
Required

Working knowledge of compressors, CO2 gauges, condensers, refrigerants, heat exchangers and other refrigeration components.
Required

Demonstrated ability to repair equipment by replacing defective or burnout elements, transistors, resistors, switches and fuses.
Required

Demonstrated ability to repair plumbing shut-off and relief valves, flow regulators and hot water heaters.
Required

Skill in replacing cooper tubing, valves and washers.
Required

Demonstrated ability to drill locks and changes codes.
Required

Skill in repairing, repainting and refurbishing damaged vending machines.
Required

Demonstrated ability to repair microwaves ovens and eliminate leakage.
Required

Skill in writing grammatically correct documentation and correspondence such as reports and letters.
Required

Skill in reading technical documents in order to program, diagnose and repair equipment.
Required

Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs.
Required

Ability to work in dirty and noisy conditions, in wet or humid weather and in fluctuating and/or extreme temperatures.
Required

Ability to stand, climb, stoop, push and crouch for extended periods of time as required to complete job duties.
Required

Ability to speak on a one-on-one basis using appropriate vocabulary and grammar.
Required

Skill in interacting appropriately with the public in a high-volume setting.
Required

Ability to move machines using a two-wheel cart and/or pallet jack.
Required

Must possess a valid Refrigeration Recovery certificate.
Required

Ability to drive a truck and electric cart to various locations on campus throughout the workday.
Required

Ability to install automatic coffee brewers.
Required

Skill in repairing coffee brewers and thermal servers.
