On-Campus Housing Mailroom Attendant

Mail Centers are a work unit within Housing Operations & Safety, which is a department within UCLA Housing & Hospitality. There are two Mail Center locations: one located in the Delta Terrace dorms and one located in the Laurel university apartment building.

Who we are — University Apartments North Mail Center

The University Apartments North Mail Center is a centralized mailroom that receives, processes, and stores mail for the undergraduate, graduate, and faculty residents of Southwest Campus (Laurel, Palo Verde, Tipuana) and Weyburn Terrace university apartments. Our team is comprised of 12–15 Mailroom Attendants and 3–4 Mailroom Supervisors.

Who we are — On-Campus Housing Mail Center

The On-Campus Housing Mail Center is a centralized mailroom that receives, processes, and stores mail for the undergraduate, graduate, and faculty residents of UCLA dormitories. Our team is comprised of 22–26 Mailroom Attendants and 6–7 Mailroom Supervisors.

Primary responsibilities

Include but are not limited to:

  1. Record reception of mail pieces
  2. Safely store and release mail to appropriate recipient
  3. Answer in-person and phone inquiries from residents, guests, and carriers
  4. Conduct building inspections for misdelivered mail

Job Pay

Mailroom Attendants earn a competitive $19.20 per hour wage. A shift differential of $0.62 per hour is paid to all staff where the majority of shift hours take place from 5:00pm–9:00pm. Staff working summer periods may be eligible for overtime straight pay and/or overtime premium pay. There are also opportunities for advancement into Mailroom Supervisor positions.

Job Requirements

  1. Applicant must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  2. Applicant must be able to work a variable schedule week-to-week
  3. Applicant must be available to work a minimum of 12 hours per week
  4. Applicant must be available to work evenings and weekends
  5. Applicant must be available to work during Finals Weeks, September Move-In, and June Move-Out
  6. Applicant must be available to work one of three campus closures: Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break, and Spring Break
  7. Applicant must possess strong written and verbal communication skills to converse with residents, guests, carriers, and fellow team members
