Front Desk Agent
Front Desks are a work unit within Housing Operations & Safety, which is a department within UCLA Housing & Hospitality. There are four front desks on The Hill: Sproul, Rieber, Hedrick, and De Neve. There is one front desk at Weyburn Commons for University Apartments North residents.
Who we are (Academic Year)
The Front Desk is a centralized helpdesk that operates 24 hours a day at the Weyburn Commons Front Desk. Our team serves the residents, faculty, and guests of University Apartments North. We are comprised of about 25-30 student desk agents and 3-5 student supervisors.
Primary responsibilities
Include but are not limited to:
- Re-encoding room cards during lockouts
- Submitting and logging service requests/work orders
- Answer phone and in-person inquiries
- Escorting vendors for work in-rooms
- Performing building inspections (e.g., laundry rooms and elevators)
Job Pay
All Front Desk Agents earn a competitive $19.20 per hour wage. A shift differential of $0.62 per hour is paid to all staff where majority of shift hours take place from 5pm–8am. Staff working summer periods may be eligible for overtime straight pay and/or overtime premium pay. There are also opportunities for advancement into student supervisor positions.

Job Requirements
- Applicant must be able to physically maneuver into, out of, and through buildings
- Applicant must be able to work a variable schedule with fluctuating hours on a weekly basis
- Applicant must be available for nights and weekends
- Applicant must be available to work during Finals Week, September Move-In and June Move-Out
- Applicant must be available to work 12–18 hours/week
- Applicant must be able to communicate with guests, residents, and other departments (including emergency services) on phone, through email, and in-person
- Applicant must be available to work up to one graveyard shift (12am–6am) per week
- Applicant must be available to work during 1 of 3 break periods (Thanksgiving, Winter, Spring)
- Driver’s License preferred (position may require on-shift driving in University vehicles)
